These strategies are fairly simple, but they will take a bit of time and money. The good news is that marketing your coaching practice on the internet is not complex, in fact because the internet has become very user friendly, it’s easier to market on the internet now than any other form of marketing.

What’s so great about marketing your coaching practice on the internet?

1. Instant Response (you know if your marketing has worked immediately)
2. Cheap (it’s about 1/3 the cost to market on the internet compared with comparable marketing offline)
3. Easy to learn (no need for technical expertise anymore).
4. Fast learning curve (you can get rolling with your marketing on the internet in about a week, and you can see real $$$ coming into your bank account between 3-6 months)

In this video, I cover:

1. The basic concepts of marketing your coaching on the internet.

  • Permission Marketing
  • Using your coaching content for marketing purposes

2.  The 3 steps to getting started marketing coaching on the internet

  1. Set up Google Adwords
  2. Set up your coaching  ‘squeeze page’
  3. Set up you coaching blog

3.  How to convert all those coaching leads you’ll get to paying coaching clients.

.Jeff

P.S.  After you watch the video, leave me a comment with what you learned as well as any questions you have about the subject.  In addition, don’t forget to mention these things in your comment:

1. Your goals for your coaching practice/business this year.

2. Your biggest challenge standing in the way of your achieving that goal.

3. The thing that you would most want from me to help you overcome your challenge and achieve your goal this year.

P.P.S.  If you think of anything that should be included in the upcoming Master Coach University semester focused on coaches who want to build a profitable coaching practice, leave it in a comment below.

    Jeff,
The other night’s call was magnificent! I was glad that I was the first person logged on for it since there were a lot of people invited and I’m sure a lot that didn’t get through. Thanks for all of the wonderful information. When I think of where you came from to where you are today and how much information you share to help others I truly wish there were more folks out there like you. Anyway, this video blog ties directly into the call the other night and the information will be very helpful beginning right now when I begin searching for ad words and create my marketing strategy. Again, thank you for your generosity in publicizing your knowledge it’s definitely benefiting your business.
    Sincerely!

    Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the GREAT info. One question: What’s the best way to narrow down a niche in a certain coaching industry? Mine is health coaching and although I would love to work with people on a variety of health concerns, I want to make sure my ads are properly targeted and most importantly that I position and brand myself properly.

    Thanks again!

  9. Jenny Cohen says

    Hi Jeff,

This was really an easy to understand and flow through and value packed video. I plan to play it over again.
While you were talking I kept switching back and forth on several nitches that I have and the Parrot example seemed very easy. Is it better to pick a simple nitch like “Aromatherapyforpets” (just love dogs) or get into sharing my many years of experience and success secrets in Network Marketing using NLP. Is there a way to decide? What about the possibility of a joint venture for us (creatives) who can feel overwhelmed. Can you talk about that? I also want to know about SEO and how much this should cost per month. Thanks for giving so much. Jenny Cohen

Excellent material and very straightforward! Better understanding of squeeze pages and the impact they can have right away
1.Your goals for your coaching practice/business this year. To have 30 paying clients.
    2. Your biggest challenge standing in the way of your achieving that goal. Getting the mastery of the various techniques to reach the emotional level of the client.
    3. The thing that you would most want from me to help you overcome your challenge and achieve your goal in 2012:Keep producing good informational videos that address the challenges of getting into the clients head.

  22. I have really enjoyed this video. As a marketing consultant and business coach, I must say that your tips are right on the money. Thank you for who you are and your contribution to the world…Jonn Thomas

  23. Wow Jeff! What great information here…you really give great tips! Do you recommend a specific squeeze page software?

  24. Thank you Jeff. It was actually very valuable. You are modeling the successful method as you instruct us. I loved it.

Biggest challenge: Not enough money for Marketing/Systems/Networking
Help needed: Clear action steps to increase income on tight budget
Want to bring in $6,000 a month for remainder of 2012.

  25. This is by far one of the best videos I seen. I has really helped to reshape and refocus my mindset. I know definitely that my business website needs to redone, but more importantly, I have insight on how to change it for the better. Thank you soooo much for this info.

  26. Marianna Erickson says

This video is amazing! Thanks for these tips. Took the confusion out of my mind about where to start and how to get into the minds of my potential coaching clients. Can’t wait to get started.

    Hi Jeff,

Perfect timing for me to see this video. I really identify with seeing groups of people as tribes, especially finding out from them what they identify as their problem and not me identifying it for them. I also loved near the end of the video the discussion on Customer Currency and measuing specific results as currency.

I am working with my own Life coach and my goal is to have 10 paying clients in 60 days. I am writing a 90 day success program and your teachings will definitely be a part of it.

My biggest challenge is fighting being tired. I am only good for about 2 1/2 hours once I get home from work and there always seems to be so much to get accomplished. How did you handle this? Should I just commit to 4 hours of Sleep for the next 6 monts? lol I try to get at least 7 hours.

I write well but it seems like it takes forever to produce my own material. I have the writing ability, it just seems like the process is slow. Maybe I need to just be patient and let things happen when they happen.

Anyway thanks so much for your teaching and mentor.

    Maxyne Rose :

Wow Jeff! What great information here…you really give great tips! Do you recommend a specific squeeze page software?

NO – I just pay people to set that up for me, but there’s great software out there now that’ll support you in doing this without a team (these things didn’t exist when I got started… so I’m still doing it the ‘old fashioned way’). Beyond that, I still want a human running my web properties for me so if something doesn’t work right, they can fix it.

I’ll go into this in much more detail during the Effortless Enrollment Mastery portion of Master Coach University (I had ZERO marketing budget when I was making 30k per month — in Effortless Enrollment, you’ll repeat the same steps I took to do that with a phone, a car, and a suit.

Time is a big issue when you’re already working a full time job. Here are a few points:

    1. Commit to “completion” vs. “perfection” in your projects

    2. Take the actions that will move you forward the most without lots of time.

Often the limiting factors in growing your business is not time, rather the comfort level that you have in taking the most efficient, effective action (those types of action are generally not comfortable). Comfortable action takes lots of time, while most uncomfortable actions produce fast results.

The “information” business model (blogging, writing books, creating video/audio content) is something that takes quite a bit of time. It took me 3 months (about 20 hours per week) to get this business model going. It might take you more time depending on your ‘variables’.

Consider taking a faster more direct route first if you want to get the results faster. If not, then, yes, you’ll have to be patient and persistent just to get to the starting line (and the work doesn’t end there).

    Hey Jeff,

I use a Mac, I see you do as well. What softwear CRM system do you use to track your leads, pipeline and sales? I’ve used ACT before and loved it many jobs ago. I can’t find ACT for Mac. The features I’m interested in is: contact list, to do, calendar, pipe line, notes. – and these fields are connected

  40. Hey Jeff! First off thank you for your excellent content, I have learned tons. I wanted to ask you, does someone need to become a fully licenced therapist in order to coach people through anxiety? Or can a life coach be held up at the same level as those therapists if they in fact can create a difference in people with anxiety? thanks Jeff! This is me: http://www.anxietykey.com

    • Jeffrey T. Sooey says

I wanted to ask you, does someone need to become a fully licenced therapist in order to coach people through anxiety?

I HOPE NOT since I coached plenty of clients on anxiety over the years.

It’s my understanding that therapists don’t have the market cornered on helping people with anxiety.

There are products that help people with anxiety (obviously not a therapist). Meditation tutors and products claim to help with anxiety as well.

You’ll want to engage legal counsel to make sure that anything you’re doing is legal and ethical within your local jurisdiction. Practicing certain therapies (or posing as a therapist) without a license could be against the law.

We try to draw a very clear distinction with our students between coaching and therapy, and the specific differences.

I’d assert that you don’t need to be licensed to help someone with their fear. I did that in this webinar (and in many other live demonstrations).

Can a life coach be held up at the same level as those therapists if they in fact can create a difference in people with anxiety?

I’m not sure what you mean (the same standards as therapists, or can you be ‘as good’ as a therapist?).

Coaches can definitely be just as effective as therapists around some anxiety issues.

Coaches are held to coaches standards, and not to the standards of therapists.

      Jeff

This was valuable information. I really appreciate your time you allocated in sharing this knowledge! You are so GREAT! Looking forward to learning more about “Master Coach University”. I believe I’d like to be coached by you! I’ve gotten so much from your tutorials! Thank you again! Forever grateful!!

  42. Jeff, I like this down to earth step by step approach you are showing us. I am thinking of using, http://www.freelancer.com to find a webmaster and http://www.fastpencil.com to develop my EBooks. I have received back bids from webmasters on the job for an average of about $75 to do the set-up. Do you have any comments on this idea?

My goals for my coaching business this year is; Have a thriving coaching business that is paying for its self while generating leads automatically (using http://www.freelancer.com) in a timely manner every month from the internet. The biggest challenge standing in the way of achieving this goal is getting started by following the steps you have described in this video. I would like you to “hold my hand” or comment on my resulting, squeeze page, blog, and hold be accountable for each step of the process.

Another goal for my coaching business this year is; Have 1 to 2 EBooks created (using http://www.fastpencil.com) to use as free incentives for potential clients. The biggest challenge standing in the way of achieving this other goal will be gathering the information about my targeted tribe. Developing methods or systems that help me understand my client’s fears, frustrations, and desires. I would love it if you would proof read each EBook to see if it meets expectations.

  43. That was a great presentation! I thoroughly enjoyed it and picked up exciting strategies! I am a former teacher and would add that you have a nice presentation style. I am presently trying to determine my niche. It should be a combination of creativity and relationship coaching; however, I also do know a lot about weight loss and swimming.

  44. I found the information Very helpful. My background is marketing but not Internet marketing. I currently do Adwords and pr. You advice on focusing on the customer is so great. I wrote my article prior to impress them I was the best. I got business but lost more. ThAnk you.
My question is I want to do coaching online visually seeing them via skype. Having them sign up fill out paperwork online. Is there a program or type of web designer I need?
Lastly on your squeeze page do you place an introductory offer of any kind or you just list the blogger and website. Thank you

This was a great video, full of information. Thanks! My question is: if you are just getting started and don’t yet have an email list (hence the need for this video), how do you know what type of stuff to start putting on your blog? Meaning, how do you know what “blue chip” information responsive to the fears/frustrations/desires to focus on (and advertise) if you don’t yet have people to survey to learn their needs? Thanks.

  48. I really like your teaching style. I thought it was well presented and very easy to follow your format. Down to earth and I felt like you really connected with your audience, you captured my interest. I want to create that same type of marketing effectiveness with my coaching tools. Thanks again for your service. Appreciate you.

    2. Your biggest challenge standing in
